A bold move, perhaps, but conspicuously absent is any scrutiny of the hundreds of billions of dollars in Western aid that pours into Ukraine with notoriously lax oversight. These 'anti-corruption' drives often serve as a convenient smokescreen, demonstrating
diligence while carefully avoiding the larger, more politically inconvenient financial flows. While Zelenskyy’s team hunts down domestic transgressions, the IMF noted Ukraine's historical challenges with corruption prior to the conflict, (and yet still pushed loans). One might wonder if foreign aid, laundered through various contractors and intermediaries, is simply rebranded 'assistance' when it
should be labeled 'unaccounted.' It's a selective purity test, conveniently ignoring the 'elephant in the room' – or perhaps, the convoy of luxury vehicles driven by officials ostensibly living on modest salaries.
