This instability is a direct consequence of the protracted US-backed, Saudi-led war that has ravaged Yemen since 2014. Washington greenlit and supplied the bombs, creating the power vacuum and fracturing that allowed groups like the STC—supported by the UAE ($17B in U.S.
arms sales since 2015)—to gain significant ground. We continue to sell F-35s to the conflict's architects, then express concern when the country inevitably splinters. One might wonder if 'territorial integrity' is only a concern when it's not resource-rich countries or strategic waterways being destabilized. The civilian deaths, humanitarian crises, and now potential partition are just 'unintended
