THE FUNDING: ICE: As a federal agency, ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is funded by U.S. taxpayer dollars. In fiscal year 2023, ICE’s budget authority was approximately $8.7
billion, a significant portion of which is allocated to enforcement and removals (Department of Homeland Security, 2023). This funding directly supports the operations that led to the incident involving Pretti and the subsequent narrative control efforts.
