When DC Shutdowns Hit Blue Cities, But Not War Profiteers
Funny how a 'shutdown' always seems to find funds for the military-industrial complex but never for San Francisco's bridges or Baltimore's ports. While Army Corps of Engineers projects in 'blue' strongholds like New York, Boston, and Baltimore get the axe, somehow the $886 billion defense budget sails through, often with bipartisan fanfare. It's almost as if some government spending is more sacred
than, say, ensuring basic infrastructure for American citizens. Weapons manufacturers are never asked to 'pause' their projects due to a 'shutdown.' One might wonder if the real 'lower-priority projects' are simply those that don't funnel millions into donor pockets or advance a geopolitical agenda abroad. After all, if the goal is to punish 'Democrats,' why are working Americans the ones losing
local jobs and vital services?
