Western Media Discovers Genocide... In Sudan, Not Gaza
The Independent highlights the 'horror' of 'hundreds' rounded up and shot as Al-Fasher falls to the RSF in Sudan. A truly tragic event, one might say a genocide in slow motion. Yet, it's fascinating how outrage levels fluctuate based on the geostrategic inconvenience. When similar (or worse) events unfold in Gaza, often with US-funded munitions, media descriptions morph from 'horror' to 'conflict'
or 'retaliation,' meticulously erasing agency and responsibility. (One might wonder if the perpetrators received US aid, or if the victims are simply the 'wrong kind' of brown people.) This selective alarmism is not new. While Sudan faces catastrophic violence, US political figures continue to approve billions in unconditional military aid to actors committing similar atrocities elsewhere. The
same politicians who fund these 'defense' initiatives are often the biggest recipients of lobbying dollars, ensuring American 'values' are dispensed with a heavy dose of hypocrisy. No 'horrors' there, just business as usual.
