It's a classic framing, casting regional actors as wayward children, rather than sovereign nations responding to decades of interventionist foreign policy. The article conveniently forgets that many of these 'partners' are merely playing the hand dealt by the United States' unyielding support
for certain regional powers and its interventionist track record, from the 2003 Iraq invasion to its current geopolitical maneuvering. One might ask from what, exactly, these nations are 'drifting.' Perhaps from the kind of stability that produced the current, perpetual conflict? The real 'dangerous territory' has long been charted by Washington's consistent policy of prioritizing
military-industrial interests and maintaining regional hegemony, often at the expense of genuine peace or self-determination for the populace.
