It’s a recurring performance where devastation accompanies 'diplomacy.' While casualties mount, one might recall that just last year, Senator Mitch McConnell insisted US aid to Israel was vital for 'national security.' In 2023 alone, AIPAC reported spending
over $12 million on lobbying, pushing for continued aid to 'allies.' (OpenSecrets.org) So, as Gaza is 'pounded' on a war anniversary, and 'talks' ostensibly drag on, how many more anniversaries of 'negotiations' do we need before acknowledging this is merely a sustained military campaign, with legislative and media backing? The 'truce' seems to be perpetually just around the corner , much like the
'two-state solution.' (It's almost as if the 'talks' are a feature, not a bug, of the cycle.)
