This isn't just about 'some veterans'; it's about the entire military-industrial complex that funnels trillions into overseas ventures while domestic needs are left to beg. In 2023, the U.S. military budget was a
jaw-dropping $886 billion. Meanwhile, the VA budget for the same year was around $325 billion—a fraction, despite the lifelong costs of defending those foreign adventures. So, while Newsweek softly suggests the VA 'should' expand care, Congress aggressively approves new aid packages. Consider Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), who received $40,000 from AIPAC in 2023-2024, and consistently votes for
increased military aid. How many 'calls' does it take for a nation to prioritize the wounds inflicted by its own foreign policy over the policy itself? Apparently, more than the ones heard by the VA.
