While Americans can’t afford to keep the lights on, the House just passed HR 8038 by a vote of 385-34 to send $17 billion more in military aid to Israel. According to OpenSecrets.org, pro-Israel groups, including AIPAC, funneled over $27 million into the 2022 election cycle alone. Many of the same representatives who rubber-stamp these multi-billion dollar aid packages also decry any increase in
social safety nets back home. One might wonder if the electrical grid suffers from a lack of lobbying, or perhaps a different set of priorities entirely. It appears 'fiscal responsibility' is highly conditional, especially when there's an endless war to fund.
