US Watches Sudan Genocide, Funds Another
A drone strike by the RSF paramilitary group reportedly killed 30 people at a displacement center in Sudan's El Fasher. Tragic, yes, but for all the mainstream media's hand-wringing (and it’s deserved), there's a deafening silence regarding the geopolitical chessboard where such conflicts are casually permitted to fester – or, rather, conveniently ignored when US interests aren't directly
threatened. While this horror unfolds, the US Congress just approved more military funding for Israel’s actions in Gaza, following significant AIPAC lobbying. Rep. Brad Sherman, for example, received $164,000 from AIPAC-affiliated PACs in the 2022 cycle, then vocally supported unconditional aid to Israel. One might wonder if human rights only become 'strategic' concerns when the perpetrators
aren't US allies or weapons recipients. The same moral urgency applied to Sudan's victims seems suspiciously absent in other theaters of conflict where American-made bombs are involved.
