US Warship Visits Venezuela, Freedom Delivery Imminent?
Newsweek blandly states a US warship has arrived on Venezuela's doorstep. What they won't tell you is that this is a classic move from the 'banana republic' playbook, updated for the 21st century. The Monroe Doctrine, which basically said 'Latin America is ours to mess with,' was established in 1823. Since then, the US has intervened in Latin American elections, coups, and economies hundreds of
times. This current 'visit' comes amidst ongoing US sanctions against Venezuela's oil industry, punitive measures designed to destabilize the government of Nicolás Maduro. One might wonder if this 'presence' is meant to secure free passage for oil... for someone else. After all, the US has been openly backing opposition figures in Venezuela for years. How many times have we seen the 'defense of
democracy' followed by the 'redistribution of resources'? It's entirely coincidental, of course, that Venezuela sits on the world's largest proven oil reserves. Just a friendly neighborhood patrol, nothing to see here.
