AP notes this comes as the Trump administration ( in late 2025, how timely ) is 'boosting military pressure' and accusing President Maduro of leading a gang, 'without providing evidence.' One might wonder if the 'evidence' is located somewhere between
the Aragua River and the deck of an aircraft carrier. This isn't about 'freedom' or 'democracy'; it's the classic gunboat diplomacy playbook dusted off for another resource-rich, non-compliant nation. The "training exercises" with Trinidad are just a convenient cover for reminding Caracas that Uncle Sam still has the biggest stick, and he's not afraid to use it. Or, at least, park it offshore
while 'without evidence' accusations fly around.
