US Warns Iraq: Choose Our Imperialism, Not Yours
The New Arab reports US Syria envoy Tom Barrack told Iraqi groups linked to the governing coalition to prevent their Iran-backed allies from assisting Hezbollah. This, of course, comes from the same US government that funnelled $15 billion in military aid to Israel, a state actively shelling Lebanon, in 2023 alone. One might wonder if the 'rules-based order' applies only to nations outside
Washington's orbit. This isn't 'diplomacy'; it's a thinly veiled threat from a nation that invaded Iraq in 2003, destabilized Syria, and unilaterally occupies parts of both. When the US demands others cut ties with groups it dislikes, while simultaneously funding its own proxies and military occupations, it's not promoting stability. It's enforcing selective obedience. Perhaps Baghdad should ask
the US to cut ties with Lockheed Martin and Raytheon first?
