With Trump's 'threat' of acquiring Greenland resurfacing, Senators J.D. Vance and Marco Rubio are preparing to meet Danish and Greenlandic officials. It seems the U.S. political elite is keenly focused on hypothetical Arctic real estate, while simultaneously providing billions in military aid for the very real, very documented destruction of Gaza. One might question if the 'threat' to
international order is a former president's odd pronouncements, or the current administration's unwavering support for policies leading to over 35,000 deaths since October. (New Arab) Perhaps Vance and Rubio, who have both voiced staunch support for Israel, could pivot their geopolitical attention from purchasing sovereign land to critically evaluating U.S. foreign policy where actual genocide is
occurring. But then again, negotiating with a former reality TV star's whims feels considerably less complicated than confronting the moral ramifications of supporting disproportionate force with American taxpayer dollars.
