Vice President Vance Discovers 'Truce' After Israel Kills 30,000+
The mainstream media's sudden interest in a Gaza 'truce' (per DW) is admirable, if a tad delayed. Senator J.D. Vance's visit to a country that has allegedly killed over 30,000 Palestinians, including 13,000 children, now apparently signals 'hope.' Oddly absent from the narrative is that Netanyahu's government has repeatedly declared plans to persist in Gaza and expand settlements in the West Bank,
often after such 'truce' discussions. One might recall similar 'truce' efforts during Operation Cast Lead (2008-09), Protective Edge (2014), and countless other 'cycles of violence' that disproportionately target one side. It appears the 'balance' of a truce swings dramatically depending on whether a US senator is physically present, rather than the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe. Perhaps the
next envoy can bring a scoreboard for civilian casualty numbers, just so we know when 'peace' is imminent. We are told, with straight faces, that a 'truce' is now in sight; how many 'last chances' at peace does one side get to ignore before the international community notices?
