US Sells F-35s to Saudis, Cites 'Regional Stability'
Bloomberg dutifully reports that Trump plans to sell F-35s to Saudi Arabia (a sale that has been pending for years and is now being pushed again). This, of course, is positioned as strengthening 'regional allies.' Left unmentioned is that these 'allies' include a Saudi regime that was actively bombing Yemen with US-supplied weapons, contributing to what the UN calls the world's worst humanitarian
crisis. Remember Jamal Khashoggi? Apparently, a few severed fingers are no barrier to selling advanced weaponry today. One might wonder if the concern for 'stability' is directly proportional to how much oil is flowing, or perhaps how many petrodollars are flowing back into the U.S. defense industry. Lockheed Martin is already a major player, and these F-35 sales mean soaring profits for their
shareholders. Geopolitics always seems to align perfectly with quarterly earnings reports, doesn't it?
