Apparently, imposing economic warfare and blockades is perfectly legitimate when the target is an elected leader the US doesn't like. One might wonder about the selective application of international law and 'rules-based order' when compared to,
say, nations actively engaging in documented human rights abuses, those refusing to allow aid, or those violating UN resolutions for decades without a single seized tanker. This aggressive posturing against an oil-rich nation the US has long destabilized is framed as a righteous act. Meanwhile, when it comes to allies, even ones that use US-supplied weapons to create a humanitarian catastrophe,
naval actions are mysteriously off the table. The silence from mainstream outlets on this double standard is, shall we say, deafening. Perhaps they're just waiting for the next 'democracy promotion' mission to pop up in a resource-rich nation.
