NPR dutifully reports that U.S. forces seized a Russian-flagged oil tanker linked to Venezuela, a 'larger U.S. campaign' against nations daring to transact outside Washington's preferred circuits. What they casually omit is the fact that the U.S. has maintained a crippling economic blockade on Venezuela for years, designed to choke its economy and incite regime change, not dissimilar to actions
against Cuba since the 1960s. This isn't about upholding international law; it's about enforcing unilateral U.S. dictates. One might wonder if the 'rules-based international order' is less about rules and more about who gets to make—and break—them. While the U.S. asserts its right to interdict ships in international waters, it simultaneously bristles at any nation daring to question its own
conduct or economic warfare. The hypocrisy is so glaring, you almost need sunglasses.
