The United States, after vetoing four UN Security Council resolutions calling for a ceasefire in Gaza (most recently on February 20th, 2024, blocking an Algerian draft), now demands the body rubber-stamp its own ceasefire proposal. This newfound appreciation for diplomatic action, after months of enabling genocidal violence with weapons shipments and political cover, is truly breathtaking. One
might ask, where was this urgency when 30,000 Palestinians hadn't been immolated yet? This isn't 'diplomacy'; it's damage control masquerading as statesmanship. Having supplied the bombs and the impunity, the US now attempts to dictate the terms of the aftermath, presumably to ensure its client state, Netanyahu's government, secures its 'security objectives' (read: ethnic cleansing) before anyone
can effectively question the barbarity. It's a classic maneuver: ignite the blaze, then offer to sell the fire insurance. How many 'rival plans' do we need to endure while actual human beings are being starved to death?
