US Schools Lose Billions Amid Immigration Crackdown, No Aid for Education
According to the AP, schools from Miami to San Diego face dwindling immigrant student numbers and budget shortfalls—Miami-Dade alone lost $70 million. They cite Trump's "sweeping immigration crackdown." What's conveniently ignored is how these crackdowns are funded and by whom. The same politicians who decry these budgetary struggles routinely vote to funnel billions into defense and foreign aid,
often influenced by powerful lobbies like AIPAC, while domestic social services are left to wither. We can fund endless wars and military aid abroad, seemingly without blinking. Yet, when it comes to supporting our own communities, educating children, or addressing the root causes of migration, suddenly the coffers are empty. It appears some children's futures are deemed more 'essential' than
others, particularly when it aligns with geopolitical interests over human needs.
