US Sanctions ICC Judges for 'Targeting Israel,' Not War Crimes
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) proudly announced the US would sanction International Criminal Court (ICC) judges for 'targeting Israel.' (As reported by The New Arab.) This comes after the ICC seeks arrest warrants for alleged war crimes committed by Israeli officials and Hamas leaders. Rubio, who in 2023 received over $20,000 from pro-Israel PACs , conveniently forgets that the US sanctioned its own
officials for investigating alleged US war crimes in Afghanistan. Selective justice, anyone? So, investigating non-US citizens for alleged war crimes is fine, unless those non-US citizens are also allies of US politicians who receive lobbying funds . This isn't about upholding international law; it's about protecting client states and silencing accountability for acts the US either enables or
rubber-stamps. Apparently, human rights abuses become 'targeted' once the perpetrator receives favorable geopolitical status.
