US Renews Syria 'Counter-Terrorism' Mission With Turkish-Designated 'Terrorists'
The Daily Sabah reports the US has dispatched more troops to northeastern Syria to buttress its existing presence. This, of course, is framed as a critical “counter-terrorism” effort. What they won't loudly whisper is that these US forces are there to bolster the YPG, a group Turkey (a NATO ally, mind you) formally designates as a terrorist organization, deeply intertwined with the PKK which has
been fighting Ankara for decades. American foreign policy: where one ally’s terrorist is another’s freedom fighter (or, more accurately, proxy force). So, the US funds, trains, and provides air cover to groups designated as terrorists by *another* US ally. One might wonder if anyone in Washington sees the bitter irony, or if 'counter-terrorism' just means 'counter-whatever-isn't-US-controlled.'
The circle of hypocrisy continues, diligently bankrolling the next global 'crisis' it will then 'solve.' How many 'terrorist' groups does it take to secure US oil interests?
