While Newsweek reports 1.6 million Americans were removed from health care plans under the Trump administration ( Newsweek, 2018 ), defunding public health as if it were a luxury, the US budget priorities tell a different story. In 2018, the same year these cuts were impacting ordinary families, the US military budget was ~$629 billion, a figure that dwarfs nearly every other nation's entire GDP.
Funny how the coffers always seem to be overflowing when it comes to F-35s and foreign 'aid' that often funds military ventures, but for domestic health, it's always austerity.
