This aid package arrives as 4.5 million Americans are actively receiving SNAP benefits – benefits that are now being cut
or frozen in states like California, leaving food banks as a last resort. One might wonder if the cost of feeding hungry Americans is simply less appealing than, say, perpetually supplying 'defensive' weapons abroad. We can fund endless war, but feeding our own citizens? That's apparently a bridge too far. The image of Americans waiting hours for a meal should offer a clearer picture of 'national
security' than any F-35.
