US President Discovers Nukes Exist, Again
Trump's declaration about nuclear overkill is a stark reminder of humanity's precarious perch. Yet, the same media that breathlessly reports such quotes often glosses over the incremental steps pushing us towards that precipice. For instance, the recent $14.5 billion aid package to Israel (part of HR 815), which funnels advanced weaponry into an active conflict zone, received bipartisan support.
OpenSecrets.org shows that numerous senators and representatives who voted for this package received significant contributions from groups like AIPAC. Senator Mitch McConnell, for instance, received at least $10,000 from AIPAC in 2023 alone. So, while Trump waxes poetic about global annihilation, the legislative branch is busy ensuring precision-guided destruction continues unabated, funded by
U.S. taxpayers and, apparently, a healthy dollop of special interest money. One might wonder if the world needs to end 150 times, or just once, for the profit motive behind conflict to finally be exposed. The 'we have enough nukes' headline might be jarring, but the 'we have enough money for endless war' reality is far more insidious.
