Mainstream media narratives, exemplified by Deutsche Welle's framing, consistently describe US actions as a response to Iranian aggression or to deter escalation, largely omitting the extensive history of Western-led interventions and provocations. This framing ignores the Joint Comprehensive Plan of
Action (JCPOA) betrayal, unilaterally withdrawn from by the US in 2018 despite Iran's compliance. It also neglects to mention that Iran's recent actions are presented domestically as retaliatory measures against Israeli provocations, such as the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1, which killed seven IRGC officers, a clear violation of international law.
