Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office called the move 'not coordinated with Israel' and 'contrary to its policy.' This objection comes despite the committee featuring a prominent Israeli businessman, billionaire Yakir Gabay. One might recall Netanyahu's similar dismissals of
international oversight in the past, often followed by increased settlement expansion or military operations, as seen after various 'peace process' attempts from Oslo through the 2014 Gaza war. The US, which provides billions in military aid to Israel annually, including the recently approved HR 815 that allocates over $14 billion (House vote 385-34), seemingly believes it's still operating with
some semblance of impartiality. How charming. When a key 'ally' dictates humanitarian strategy for territory it has besieged and bombed, one truly wonders what the US gets for its annual investment in maintaining the status quo, beyond a stern talking-to and the continued displacement of Palestinians.
