US Officials 'Concerned' About Gaza Famine They Funded
Mainstream outlets are now reporting on the 'imposed famine' in Gaza, with children tragically starving. One might even hear a U.S. official express 'concern.' Yet, the narrative conveniently omits that the current Israeli government's actions, including blocking aid, are directly enabled by the consistent flow of U.S. military assistance. This includes HR 815, passed in April 2024, providing over
$14 billion in military aid to Israel, despite bipartisan calls for aid to be conditioned on humanitarian access. (Roll Call 148, H.R. 815, April 20, 2024). While infants waste away, the same politicians who voted 'yes' on that aid package receive comfortable sums from lobbies like AIPAC. According to OpenSecrets, in 2023 alone, AIPAC spent over $3 million on lobbying and contributed millions more
to political campaigns. (OpenSecrets.org, AIPAC, 2023-2024 Election Cycle data). How many bipartisan 'concerns' does it take before we question if these 'humanitarian crises' are features, not bugs, of a policy that prioritizes military dominance over basic human needs?
