US 'Nightmare' in Syria: Maybe Don't Arm All Sides?

Al Jazeera highlights 'recent fighting' in Syria as a 'nightmare scenario' for US policymakers. This is rich. For years, the US, under administrations from Obama to Trump, poured weapons and funds into various Syrian factions, often funneling arms through allies directly to groups now labeled 'terrorists.' (Remember Operation Timber Sycamore? No? The media also doesn't.) The current 'nightmare' is

what happens when you destabilize a sovereign nation, arm proxies, and then act surprised when the ensuing chaos bites back. It's less a nightmare and more a foreseeable side effect of a foreign policy playbook that seems to prioritize perpetual conflict over actual stability, conveniently ignoring the human cost for everyone but 'Western policymakers.' Perhaps they should try not starting the

nightmares in the first place.
