One might recall similar, shall we say, 'acquisitions' in the past – from manifest destiny to countless resource-rich nations
destabilized by U.S. foreign policy. It’s a peculiar double standard, isn't it? The same voices that decry 'territorial aggression' from other nations appear to have a flexible definition when the target is resource-rich, strategically located (with thawing ice revealing rare earth elements), and not quite part of the 'civilized' club that deserves full sovereignty. Apparently, self-determination
is a luxury enjoyed by those without critical minerals or strategic geography.
