Yet, the same media often shows far less concern when these heavily armed operations occur in the shadows, or when ICE and Border Patrol agents—often operating with
federal grants and military surplus gear—are involved in violence far from major headlines. One might wonder why specific instances of law enforcement violence make headlines while the broader systemic violence of militarized immigration sweeps becomes normalized background noise. This selective outrage conveniently ignores how deeply integrated federal agencies have become in local policing,
blurring lines and escalating tensions in immigrant communities nationwide. The public is conditioned to accept these 'operations' as necessary, without questioning the human cost or the significant federal resources diverted to this cause. The fact that a TikToker was targeted and shot during an 'immigration operation' raises questions mainstream outlets are seemingly uninterested in asking.
