US Lawmakers Discover Genocide, The Hard Way

While 20 representatives bravely utter 'genocide,' the silence from the other 415 is deafening. This collective amnesia is particularly potent when OpenSecrets.org reveals significant contributions from AIPAC – for instance, Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) received $22,000 from AIPAC in 2023, and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) has taken over $200,000 in career donations. These figures are not trivial when

considering votes on aid packages that keep Israeli military operations funded, despite escalating civilian casualties. One might wonder if the legislative courage found by these 20 lawmakers implies a conscience untouched by such contributions or merely a different constituency. The media, meanwhile, continues its masterclass in euphemism, often framing the intentional starvation and bombing of

civilians as 'self-defense' or 'complex regional dynamics.' How many UN reports, ICJ rulings, or dead children does it take before such 'dynamics' become something else entirely? Apparently, for most of the US Congress, the answer is 'more than we care to count.'
