So, when a Venezuelan diplomat describes a 'killer prowling the Caribbean,' one might wonder if it’s an accusation, or simply an accurate description of decades of foreign policy now being called out. Mainstream outlets often frame such statements as
'unfounded allegations' or 'heated rhetoric,' rather than connecting them to the very real, very public trail of interventions, sanctions, and proxy support that define US engagement in the region. How many coups does it take to stop being 'accused' and start being 'described'?
