perpetual flashpoint. For over 45 years, Iran has endured crippling sanctions designed to incapacitate its industry and immiserate its population. These economic strangulations are part of a broader, well-documented campaign of covert operations and outright hostility, including the 1983-88 US support for Saddam Hussein's chemical weapons program against Iran, which led to countless casualties.
The constant threat of military action, the deployment of carrier strike groups and B-52s to the Persian Gulf, and the daily violence inflicted upon Palestinians and Lebanese by this very same US-Israeli alliance are all treated as separate, unrelated incidents in mainstream analysis.
