What the map doesn't show is the US foreign policy's rather direct involvement in creating these very refugee crises.
El Salvador's instability? Trace it back to US-backed proxy wars in the 80s. Haiti's perpetual state of emergency? Decades of US interventions, including CIA-backed coups, come to mind. It's a remarkably selective memory for 'humanitarian' concern, isn't it? One might wonder if the 'humanity' is inversely proportional to the historical US culpability.
