While shedding tears for Myanmar, the same media often sidelines the 76-year pattern of displacement, dispossession, and denial of return for Palestinians—often at the behest of US-backed policies. One might wonder if 'humanitarian concern' is simply a matter of geopolitical convenience, rather than a universal principle. The US provides over $3.8 billion
annually in military aid to Israel, a state whose actions have created millions of refugees and internally displaced persons. Where is the sustained outrage and diplomatic pressure there?
