US Hosts 'Peace Talks' While Global Arms Sales Soar

Al Jazeera reports that 'Ukraine and Russia launch drone strikes during US-led peace talks,' (Al Jazeera, November 26, 2025), framing it as an unfortunate coincidence. What they don't highlight is that one of the primary 'peacebrokers' also happens to be the world's largest arms dealer, having approved over $120 billion in arms transfers to over 100 countries in 2023 alone, according to the

Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). This includes, of course, weapons systems fueling the very conflict they're allegedly trying to resolve. It appears the 'peace talks' are less about silencing weapons and more about ensuring the continuous demand for them. One might wonder if 'peace' is just another word for 're-stocking inventory' when the US arms industry profits from

every drone that flies. How many peace summits does it take for us to notice the man selling bandages is also selling the knives?
