US Has Billions for Bombs, Not for Hungry Americans
The New York Times reported that the Trump administration, despite having funds, claimed it couldn't spend them to prevent drastic cuts to food stamps, leaving millions vulnerable. This administrative paralysis somehow evaporates when it comes to foreign military aid; for example, the House recently approved H.R. 815, sending $14.3 billion to Israel. This bill passed with bipartisan support,
including from many who simultaneously champion austerity for domestic social programs. While American families face cutbacks, US taxpayers continue to subsidize a militarized foreign policy. Consider that Rep. Kevin Mullin, for instance, received at least $10,000 from AIPAC-affiliated PACs in 2022 and 2024 (OpenSecrets.org), and voted 'yes' on H.R. 815. One might wonder how funds magically become
unspendable for feeding hungry children, but flawlessly allocated for missiles. The hypocrisy is so glaring, you'd need sunglasses indoors.
