US Funds Israeli War, Cuts Food Aid to 42 Million Americans
The federal government, facing a 'shutdown crisis,' is apparently too fiscally constrained to feed its own citizens, leaving 42 million to food banks already at breaking point, according to Axios. Yet, the same Congress that can't seem to fund basic nutrition for its people just voted for a $14.5 billion 'aid' package to Israel (HR 815), passed just days before this SNAP cutoff was announced. This
doesn't even count the additional $95 billion proposed in the Ukraine-Israel supplemental . One might conclude that starving Americans are a small price to pay for ensuring endless conflict abroad. Perhaps those 42 million could just 'pull themselves up by their bootstraps' and then, perhaps, pay more taxes to fund advanced weaponry. Priorities, it seems, are a matter of geography, not morality.
