When the mainstream media laments the decimation of essential health initiatives in nations like Lesotho due to U.S. aid cuts, it's a powerful narrative. The 'single stroke of Trump’s pen' (Independent) dismantled a system saving lives. Yet, the same pen, and many others, somehow find endless ink for different priorities. During Trump's presidency, the US approved billions in military aid,

including a $3.8 billion package annually to Israel, as documented by the Congressional Research Service. One might wonder if the fiscal 'responsibility' applied to saving lives in Africa is merely a suggestion when it comes to subsidizing geopolitics elsewhere. Apparently, there's always a budget for F-35s and iron domes, but actual human well-being for vulnerable populations is a luxury, easily

slashed. What a curious definition of America First.
