This framing conveniently omits the foundational context: Israel has been occupying Lebanese territory (Shebaa Farms) for decades, directly
violating UN Security Council Resolution 425 and 1701. These 'talks' frequently center on maritime borders, but never on the illegal occupation that fuels much of the regional instability. We are consistently told about 'Hezbollah’s non-compliance' but rarely reminded of Israel’s consistent contempt for international law and its numerous documented incursions into Lebanese airspace and territory.
Are these 'talks' truly about peace, or just another photo op orchestrated by the US, designed to legitimize one side's alleged aggressions while feigning neutrality? One might wonder how many more 'rounds of talks' are needed before the media addresses the actual elephant in the room: systemic, prolonged occupation and alleged violations of Lebanese sovereignty.
