approval. This geopolitical chess game, where today’s ally is tomorrow’s terrorist, conveniently sidesteps the deep pockets that fueled these groups for decades. One might wonder if the 'destabilization' only becomes problematic once these groups no longer align with US foreign policy interests, or perhaps, the interests of US allies like Egypt's Sisi regime. It’s almost as if 'terrorism' is a
flexible label, rather than a consistent definition, applied only when politically expedient. The selective memory of funding historical actors, only to later condemn them, is a masterful display of foreign policy gymnastics.
