US Demands Ukraine Peace, Funds Israel's War
According to Bloomberg, the US is 'pushing Ukraine to accept the terms of a 28-point proposal' for peace. This, coming from the same US government that rapidly green-lights billions in military aid for Israel, even as the ICJ investigates genocide claims. Remember when 'victory' was the only option for Kyiv? It appears 'peace' is exclusively for wars the US isn't directly profiting from or
politically invested in endlessly. The hypocrisy writes itself. The US, with one hand, demands a negotiated end to a conflict it helped prolong in Ukraine, while with the other, it fast-tracks $14 billion in new military aid to the Netanyahu government (HR 815, 2024)—despite the 37,000+ Palestinian deaths in Gaza. Perhaps the 'peace proposal' is only for regions where the US isn't trying to
destabilize an entire continent, or for conflicts that become inconveniently expensive or politically unpopular before an election cycle. What a novel concept: peace, but only on Washington's terms, and only when it suits. One might wonder why similar 'pressure' isn't applied when US-supplied bombs are flattening Gaza hospitals.
