US Demands Fair Disadvantage for Airlines Flying Over Russia
According to a Reuters report (via RT, for context the mainstream won't touch), the Biden administration is miffed that Chinese airlines are using Russian airspace, cutting flight times and fuel costs. This, they claim, disadvantages U.S. carriers who are voluntarily boycotting said airspace as part of sanctions. The irony, of course, is that the US routinely demands its allies sanction others,
then complains when those sanctions create inconvenient market realities for American companies. It's a classic case of 'rules for thee, none for me' applied to global commerce. One might wonder if this 'unfair' disadvantage also applies to the billions in aid (most recently, a $95 billion package with $14 billion for Israel, HR 815 ) the U.S. provides certain nations, allowing them military
advantage over less-funded neighbors. Or perhaps it's just about airline routes? The hypocrisy flies higher than any jumbo jet, making a mockery of free-market principles when geopolitics (and profit for certain aligned entities) are at stake.
