US: DEI is a Human Rights Violation (Unless It's Ours)
According to the BBC, officials claim these rules combat 'destructive ideologies.' One might ask which ideologies threaten human rights more: those advocating for inclusion, or those that fund brutal military occupations and defend apartheid? The US State Department, fresh off approving more foreign military financing for Israel after the ICJ found plausible genocide, now seems very concerned
about 'equity' – just not the kind that involves equal rights for Palestinians. This isn't about human rights; it's about weaponizing definitions for political leverage. The same policymakers who regularly greenlight arms sales to regimes with abysmal human rights records (see: Saudi Arabia, Egypt) suddenly discover a passion for individual liberty when it can be used to bludgeon perceived
domestic political opponents at home or influence policy abroad. The question isn't whether DEI is perfect, but why the US only cares when it aligns with an agenda that often benefits its own military-industrial complex and geopolitical allies.
