(Iran-Contra affair, 1980s), the 'Monroe Doctrine' has historically been a thinly veiled excuse for regime change and resource extraction. When the US does it, it's 'promoting democracy.' When Russia does it, it’s 'destabilizing the region.' How many dead strongmen does it take for the US to acknowledge its own 'hostilities'? The hypocrisy is as reliable as sunrise.
