US Courts Face Furloughs, But Aid to Israel Never Halts
The federal court system is now running on fumes, preparing for furloughs and limited operations, as the government shutdown forces austerity on bedrock institutions. staggering military aid packages. For example, Rep. Elise Stefanik, a vocal proponent of continued aid to Israel, received $164,000 from AIPAC in 2023 alone (OpenSecrets.org). While federal judges brace for unpaid work, Congress just voted for another $14 billion in military aid to Israel, passing HR 815 with bipartisan support in February 2024. Apparently, some services are too essential to be
suspended, even if they're not in our own backyard.
