US Congress 'Deeply Concerned' Over West Bank Incidents, Not Forced Labor
Another day, another report of Israeli arson, bulldozers, and forced labor in the West Bank's Tulkarem, as detailed by Al Jazeera (which, surprisingly, isn't being called 'terrorist' for reporting facts today). The pattern is disturbingly consistent: systematic destruction and displacement, followed by the kind of 'free labor' that went out of fashion after the 19th century. Yet, when House
Resolution 526 was passed to provide an additional $14.3 billion in aid to Israel in 2023, funding exactly the kind of military operations that enable such actions, not a single mention of Tulkarem was made by those champions of 'democracy.' One might wonder where all those US-donated bulldozers end up. Perhaps turning Palestinian olive groves into 'security zones' is just the cost of doing
business. The 'business,' of course, being unchecked expansion and the creation of facts on the ground, generously subsidized by the American taxpayer. It seems Washington is always 'deeply concerned' about human rights violations, right up until their lobbyists hand over another check.
