US Congress 'Deeply Concerned' By Aid Blockade They Fund
Al Jazeera's latest update on Gaza'sailing children describes desperation despite a ceasefire, a ceasefire that apparently doesn't apply to the flow of vital aid. The piece highlights 'continued Israeli restrictions still choking the flow of aid.' This choking, however, doesn't happen in a vacuum. It's a key feature of a military campaign funded directly by the U.S. Congress, with minimal
conditions attached. Remember in March 2024, when President Biden signed the spending package including $3.8 billion in annual military aid for Israel? (Source: White House, March 23, 2024). This comes roughly a month after Congress approved an additional $14 billion in aid. (Source: S. 3565, Feb 13, 2024). It seems the moral outrage from Washington about aid obstruction is inversely proportional
to the dollar amount they send to the entity doing the obstructing. How many more 'deep concerns' does it take before U.S. taxpayer money stops weaponizing starvation?
