egregious was perhaps 'Operation Gideon' in 2020, where former US Green Berets and Venezuelan dissidents attempted a literal beach invasion to capture Maduro, a move the US, of course, denied orchestrating despite glaring inconsistencies. So, when US officials now 'consider designating two Americans as wrongfully detained,' while others 'face real criminal charges,' perhaps they should reflect on
the 'real criminal charges' the US itself would level against foreign nationals caught attempting to overthrow *their* government.
